The ESP Medium Urban Search and Rescue (MUSAR) team is a unit at the disposal of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) for search and rescue in the event of an earthquake or structural collapse.

The ESP MUSAR team is designed to perform search and rescue operations in urban areas or in collapsed structures in the case of a disaster. They are also capable of performing the required procedures to rescue trapped people. Their main tasks during a mission will be the following:

- Performing urban search and rescue operations in collapsed structures.

- Liaising with local emergency units and international agencies.

- Conducting local and regional risk analysis and assessments.

To achieve these goals, this team comprises five main capabilities:

-     Administration, for its own activities as well as other USAR teams.

-     Canine and technical search.

-     Rescue.

-     Medical.

-     Logistics.
