In 2019, the Emergency Military Unit passed the certification process of the Ground Forest Fire Fighting (GFFF) module of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM.)

This process began with the participation in the ModTTX exercise, in Split (Croatia) in October 2018, for the planning phase of the certification.

Subsequently, on the Croatian island of Crees, the UME team from the emergency response battalion (BIEM II), participated in the CressModex2019 exercise together with civil and military institutions from other European countries, where, in addition to forest fire fighting, they performed joint sanitary evacuation exercises.
