October 17th, 2017 at the Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, United States, a Spanish Flag was flown at half-staff as a sign of mourning and remembrance for the passing of Capt. SPAF Borja Aybar and Lt. SPAF Fernando Perez Serrano. Major Jorge Espina Ortega, assigned as pilot instructor at this Air war college, has received numerous signs of support and respect on behalf of students and instructors of the “ Euro-NATO Joint Pilot training (ENJJPT)” in these last days. Colonel Lendy Renegar, ENJJPT Vice Commander, requested to the more than 150.000 people that are assigned to this Program “to honor and to accompany our colleagues from the Spanish Air Force “pointing out the importance of supporting the OTAN Coalition members in the most difficult moments. ENJJPT is a multinational program formed by 14 countries in which more than 150 students will graduate as new fighter pilots. The Spanish involvement backs up to 1996 and as up to today, 25 SPAF pilots have received their fighter education at this Program and 13 have been involved as instructors.
