ESPS "Cristobal Colon" (F105), the most advanced Spanish Navy Frigate, visited the Canadian city of Halifax in Nova Scotia from July 24th to July 26th 2016, on her trip back to homeport after completing the Combat System Ship Qualification Trials in Norfolk (USA).

The F-105 frigate is the fifth unit of the modern multi-purpose F-100 class frigates, which the Spanish Navy contributes to the National and NATO Defense objectives at the dawn of the 21st century.

Taking advantage of the port visit, her Commanding Officer and crew organized a visit for Royal Canadian Navy officials, as well as Canadian shipbuilding industry personnel, to bring first hand general, technical and engineering information on the capabilities of the Frigate’s cutting edge technologies and performance in a real environment.

The ship received an official visit from Mr. Carlos Gomez-Mugica Sanz, Ambassador of Spain in Ottawa, who signed the ship Guest Book and hosted a reception onboard, with the attendance of Hon. Geoff Regan, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Major of Halifax Mr. Mike Savage, among other distinguished guests.

Afterwards, the ship’s Captain hosted a meeting onboard for distinguished attendees of the Royal Canadian Navy and the society of Halifax.
