The US Army general Curtis M. Scaparotti, Commander-in-Chief of the Supreme Allied Command Europe (SACEUR) has paid a visit to the Spanish PATRIOT contingent deployed in NATO  Incirlik Air Base (Turkey).
 
General Scaparotti, who has just taken his position in May 4th 2016, is the highest authority for planning and conducting of military operations within NATO. On this occasion, the purpose of his visit was to have a first-hand look at the various aspects of the Spanish mission of protection against the threat of ballistic missiles in the framework of operation "Support to Turkey", stressing the importance of operation developed by the Spanish contingent for the defense of Turkey, which is also that of NATO and therefore of each and every one of the member countries.

During the visit, Lieutenant Colonel Juan Carlos Perez Herrero, commander of the Spanish Army Patriot detachment, had the opportunity to brief General Scaparotti and his staff about the key points of the mission assigned to the unit. Then Captain Pedro Andres Rubio Garcia, commander officer of the Patriot battery, showed the compound to the SACEUR party and explained the main operational and materiel details about the deployed equipment.

General Scaparotti and his team expressed their appreciation for the work, enthusiasm and excellent job of every member of the Spanish contingent, as he wrote in his signature in the unit honor book:  "It is an honor for me to meet with this group of men and women of the Spanish Patriot unit serving NATO in Turkey. This is an important mission and represents the Alliance commitment to every nation to ensure the common defense".
