After visiting the port of Havana in Cuba, and on occasion of its 87th training cruise, the Spanish Navy school ship “Juan Sebastian de Elcano” docked at the Museum Park Pier in the city of Miami on May 18th in the morning.

During the five days stay, the ship and its crew have carried out an intense official and cultural agenda, highlighting the visit to the US Coast Guard Miami Sector Base, and the tribute to the fallen ceremony at the Spanish Navy square in the Bicentennial Park.

On Sunday, May 22nd, under the octogenarian 'Elcano' poop deck, the traditional military ceremony of pledge of allegiance to the Flag was held in an emotive ceremony in which 37 Spanish citizens lent oath of allegiance to the national flag, thus giving unequivocal testimony of affection to their homeland Spain.

The 'Juan Sebastián de Elcano' sailed from Miami May 23rd en route to Baltimore, its last stop before undertaking the oceanic transit back to Spain.
