The Spanish Army Airborne Light Infantry Brigade "Galicia VII" is the core unit of the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) that has been activated for the first time this year making it also under leadership of Spain.

"Due to the evolution of the situation in Eastern Europe, the VJTF has received the order to deploy". This is the fictitious scenario that begins the phase of deployment of the exercise 'Brilliant Jump 16', whereby NATO will display this force for the first time, being Spain the first nation to hold its command.

As the leading nation, Spain will provide more than 1300 troops to "Brilliant Jump 16", making it the main contributor to the exercise that is taking place in the vicinity of the Polish town of Zagan until May 27th, also with the participation of Belgian, British, and Albanese units.

From that date on, the Spanish forces will remain in Poland until June 10th, when they will also participate in the "Valiant Falcon 16" exercise, which is complementary to Brilliant Jump, and is aimed to train the multiple capabilities of the VJTF as a response to hypothetical crisis situations.
