Fulfilling a mission assigned by the European Air Transport Command (EATC), a Spanish Air Force 31 Airlift Wing  C-130 Hercules supported the 4° Stormo of the Italian Air Force after the participation of this unit with its Eurofighters in the exercise Red Flag recently developed at Nellis Air Base, Nevada.

In particular, the mission assigned to the Spanish Hercules has been to recover Italian staff and communication equipment from Nellis to Zaragoza Air Base, Spain. The Spanish aircraft made stops at Saint John´s (Canada) and Andrews (Maryland) bases.

The European Air Transport Command is a unique organization in the field of military air transport, refueling and air-evacuation missions.

Established in September 2010, the EATC constitutes the first multinational headquarters  of the military command structure of member nations (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and since July 3rd 2014, Spain), allowing those nations to access not only to directly allocated air transport assets, thus contributing to optimize their use, but also to the whole multinational EATC fleet,  which represents more than sixty per cent of the military air transport resources available in Europe, with more than twenty different types of aircraft.
