On occasion of the coming Christmas, the US Secretary of Defense, Ashton Carter, travelled last December 15th to Incirlik Air Base (Turkey) in order to greet personally the forces of the United States and other nations participating in the operation "Inherent Resolve".

Carter pronounced a short speech to the coalition forces deployed at the base, as well as to the Spanish Army personnel that develops the mission of antiballistic defense in the Turkish town of Adana, stating the importance that Incirlik Air Base represents in the ongoing operations against DAESH in Iraq and Syria.

He also expressed his gratitude for the sacrifices assumed by the troops who will be far from home during Christmas serving the interest of peace, asking them to forward such gratitude also to their families.

Just by chance, that same day the choir of the Spanish Army unit was performing a voluntary activity to entertain and amuse the kids living in the base, for which Secretary Carter thanked the Spanish troops which are so well integrated with their US colleagues in the so called "Team Incirlik".  In turn, the commander of the Spanish Army unit expressed Secretary Carter his gratitude for the warm welcome and support received from the US forces in the base, highlighting the excellent military relations between the United States and Spain.
