Organized by Maestro Angel Gil-Ordoñez and conducted by Phil Snedecor of the Washington Symphonic Brass, the Christmas Concert that takes place annually at the Residence of the Ambassador had this year as guests of honor a good number of wounded warriors in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Alexandra de Borchgrave, president of The Light of Healing Hope Foundation, and Diane Flamini, the Ambassador’s social secretary, organized a soiree that gathered a number of distinguished Washingtonian authorities and personalities.
After the concert, the Ambassador and the Defense Attaché had the opportunity to talk at length with Secretary of Veteran Affairs Robert A. McDonald about the Wounded Warriors programs carried out by the US armed forces in order to deal with the physical and emotional wounds suffered by the soldiers. These programs aim to bring them back into active service or to prepare them for civilian life and the workplace.
