The training ship 'Juan Sebastian de Elcano' will be awarded the 'Boston Teapot' Trophy 2015.

This award, given annually since 1964 by the organization Sail Training International (STI), is given to the training ship that navigates the most nautical miles on sail continuously, over a period of 124 hours. To claim victory in this edition, the 'Juan Sebastián de Elcano' recorded a total of 919 miles sailed between January 23 to 28, 2015 in transit from Las Palmas (Canary Islands) to Rio de Janeiro during its LXXXVI Instruction Cruise, representing an average speed of 7.4 knots.

The Spanish sailing ship takes over the Norwegian ship 'Statsraad Lehmkuhl' and ties the winnings of nine teapots with the Argentinian training ship 'Libertad'.
