The Asociacion de los Granaderos y Damas de Galvez held its 40th anniversary on October 10. In a simple but moving ceremony led by the National Governor Richard Espinosa, the Ambassador of Spain, Ramon Gil-Casares, and the former Governor of the Association, Mr. Joe Perez, praised the figure of General Bernardo de Galvez.

The event, attended as well by the Defense Attaché, Brigadier General Angel Valcarcel, the Naval Attaché, Captain Jose Maria Martinez-Nuñez, and the Military Attaché, Colonel Fernando Valencia,  ended with the laying of a wreath at the base of General Galvez statue, located at Galvez Park at Virginia Avenue and 22nd Street, NW.

The Asociacion de los Granaderos y Damas de Galvez was founded in 1976 during the celebration of the U.S. Bicentennial. It is formed by researchers, historians and educators who endeavor to teach the pivotal contributions of Spain for the United States to reach its independence.
