During the afternoon of 9th September, a V-22 Osprey aircraft made a series takeoffs and landings on the flight deck of the LHD Juan Carlos I, so the ship would learn the ability to operate this aircraft while participating in the next combined-joint exercise "Trident Juncture", which will run from October 26  to November 4.

The aircraft is part of the USMC VMM-261 squadron, one of six that are deployed at Moron Air Base with the Special Purpose MAGTF-Africa Crisis Response.  The Osprey made a total of fifteen landings, while the service personnel had a magnificent opportunity to become familiar with procedures while learning to refuel it, restrain, and taxiing the aircraft on deck.
