For three days, the 7th Rifle Company/Second Landing Battalion, Marine Brigade "Tercio de Armada", members from the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Africa Crisis Response (SPMAGTF-CR-AF) deployed at Moron Air Base, and two units from the Fleet Antiterrorist Security Team - Europe (FASTEUR), deployed at Rota Naval Base, participated in the Cadex 1502 exercise at that Naval Base.

The exercise featured a high-powered program of combined training in tactics and high intensity combat techniques and procedures, running in three phases. The first phase was focused on day and night air assault, using Fast-Rope (descend from a rope as shown in picture at right) from the Osprey, MV-22 aircraft.

The second phase focused physical-military training and units integration, involving a 10 km circuit in combat gear. Finally, the third phase focused on combat operations in urbanized terrain CQB (Closed Quarter Battle).

These partnerships and exercises between the Spanish Marines and the USMC, which are more frequent since the deployment of SMAGTF in Moron, are made possible by having the same expeditionary and amphibious character, a set of common ideas and identical combat mindset.
