The Code is part of supply security arrangements between both countries.
It will allow the companies a closer relationship with the Department of Defense.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defense building, hosted by the Spanish Deputy Minister of Defense Pedro Argüelles, and a group of Spanish companies working in the defense Area.
Prior to this ceremony, Pedro Argüelles briefly pointed out the importance of creating trustful industrial ties with the United States, Spain´s partner and ally in a key moment due to sector's internationalization.
The ceremony was attended by the Spanish National Armament Director , Lieutenant General Juan Manuel García Montaño, and representatives of organizations related to this industry, such as AESMIDE and TEDAE, as well as 30 companies that signed the Code of Conduct.
This Document is intended to be a part of the Secure supply agreement between Spain and the USA. Under that Code, the signatory companies will provide priority support to the official requests made from the US Department of Defense through the Spanish Ministry of Defense, with the only contingency that these requirements do not interfere with previous commitments agreed by these companies. The US Department of Defense thus ensures through the Spanish Ministry of Defense and the signatory companies the provision of those services.
This document will allow the signatory companies to manage a closer relationship with the U.S. Department of Defense, and opening markets within the US Industrial and Technological sector, increasing its reliability and credibility as suppliers in this important market.
