In mid-February the frigate "Canarias", currently on mission against terrorism in the Mediterranean as part of operation "Active Endeavour", received the visit of US. Rear Admiral Brad Williamson, Commander of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (COMSNMG-2), for the purpose of learning in detail about the integrated units and their crews.

RA. Williamson reached the Spanish ship by helicopter, and was received by the ship Commanding officer, Commander Manuel Alvargonzalez Mendez, with whom he had a meeting before the formal visit.

Having been stationed in an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate as artillery officer, RA. Williamson has an extensive knowledge of these types of ships, so he truly identified during the visit and payed much attention to given explanations, mentioning his own experiences as they moved through the vessel.

The tour started at the bridge, where the Admiral was briefed about various navigation equipment included in the ship. He then visited the CIC (Combat Information Center), the infirmary, engine rooms and the security control center.

The visit ended when the SH60B helicopter aboard the "Canarias" took Admiral Williamson back to USS Vicksburg.
